New Patron for Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes

Lady Redmond – the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire – has happily agreed to become our patron.  This means that in addition to Jenny Tinmouth, Lady Redmond will help our group going forward and become a full patron for the group.

We were very pleased to visit Lady Redmond and her husband Phil Redmond (Famous for Grange Hill, Brookside, and Hollyoaks) last month, and hear more about Phil’s passion for motorbikes and Lady Redmond’s fantastic ongoing work as the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire.   She is very passionate about helping the local community, and is heavily involved with charities in the region.

We would like to thank Lady Redmond for a wonderful visit and are really looking forward to getting more involved and supporting her activities around the region.

We’re always looking to recruit into Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes, so if you’re interested read on.

We have three main roles in the group – Riders, Controllers, and Fundraisers – and a volunteer can do one or more of these roles.  This month we’re focusing on the Controller role.

What does a Controller do for us ?

The Controller role is critical for any Blood Bikes group – you receive calls from our NHS clients and then relay the jobs to our rider community.  It’s a home based role and we’re looking for people who may have recently retired and are looking to give back by volunteering between 8am and 6pm during the week.  Our Controllers are able to make their own decisions about how much time they can give, with some doing full days, and others doing one morning or afternoon per week.  Please consider applying for this role.  Many thanks.

Who Are Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes?

We are a group of volunteers, formed in 2012, who make a difference by helping our local NHS.

Lots of us are Motorcyclists, but we also have volunteers who don’t ride bikes.

We provide this service to the NHS for FREE to help reduce NHS transport expenses.

By saving the NHS money these funds can be used to improve patient care.

It is all due to our small army of loyal volunteers and everyone who supports us for helping us achieve our goal.

Our Mission Statement

Our aim is to save our NHS money by the providing FREE emergency transport of urgently needed blood, donor breast milk, drugs, human tissues and other medical requirements between hospitals / hospices and blood transfusion units, blood banks primarily but not exclusively in the North West region of England

Helping the NHS

Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes collects blood units, blood samples and other urgent items and transports them to wherever they need to be, including cross country in partnership with other Blood Bike groups.

Every single day

Volunteer motorcyclists transport these products every day between 7am and 11pm using liveried motorcycles fitted with racks so that we can take the largest insulated box with ease.
